APRIL FOOLS IN AUGUST. Buskin, Batteau, Forster, Lavin, AND Holmes making APRIL FOOLS of themselves in August

APRIL FOOLS IN AUGUST Buskin Batteau Forster Lavin AND Holmes making APRIL FOOLS of themselves in August

Robin came up with this concept: A show where we all make April Fools out of ourselves. We toured with it April 2023 and then again in April 2024 -- but now the demand is growing to do it more than just in April.

Buskin & Batteau are the thinking person's rock'n'roll band (and will have percussionist Marshal Rosenberg with them for this ONE NIGHT ONLY gig). They share the stage with John Forster, long considered to be (even by the man himself) "the NEW Tom Lehrer," also with me (Christine) and just added to the bill -- he lives in Beacon -- Jake Holmes.

THE APRIL FOOLS at The Towne Crier Saturday August 10th 8:30 PM

You know who I am, understand the power and appeal of B&B, but might not know John Forster (a master musician and as clever as you'll ever hear -- the heir apparent to Tom Lehrer) and now, the one and only Jake Holmes.

Jake rarely performs these days (has been working on a theater piece) -- he's been a resident of Beacon for years, and you'll probably want to know that he once had an entire album of his songs recorded by Frank Sinatra, and had a bunch of hit songs he wrote and recorded (I didn't even realize til yesterday that he was the voice and writer of "So Close," that climbed the charts back in the day).

My connection with Jake goes back to 1986 when Robin Batteau produced my album "Beau Woes" and came up with the idea of adding Jake's voice to the end of the song:

I'm hoping that we can get him to reprise that at the Towne Crier.

Tickets are $30 in advance, and $35 the day of the show. Doors open at 5:30 The Towne Crier is known for its scrumptious food, outrageous desserts and finely tuned cocktails -- so make a whole night of it -- come for dinner, stay for the show.

If you're a knitter, we'll be there early (4:30 sound check) so there will be plenty of time for a knitting circle, which will start at 7 PM -- just ask where it's happening when you come in. And yes, there will be prizes (Newest knitting project, oldest project, largest project, most complicated project, most mysterious project).

Time for a road trip! Saturday August 10th, The Towne Crier Cafe in downtown Beacon, NY -- doors at 5:30, show at 8:30. Maybe the perfect time to come for dinner is 7 PM? 6:30 if you're a slow chewer. And here's the phone number, in case you are old school -- (845) 855-1300.

In case you're not: towncrier.com.

And in case you're a musician, David Bernz (fantastic musician, most recently in "Work o' The Weavers") owns a music shop right down the street. https://www.jakesmainstreetmusic.com at 393 Main Street (The Towne Crier is 379 Main Street). Jake's closes at 6 PM, so if you plan it right, you can visit Jake's AND The Towne Crier all on the same day to feed your head and your soul.

Ciao!
