The Drowsy Chaperone

The Drowsy Chaperone
On the flip side, if global warming is FREAKING YOU OUT and you want to truly escape the horrors of modern life, get to the Marriott Marquis Theater to see the screamingly smart and funny musical The Drowsy Chaperone. I am embarrassed to tell you how many times I have seen it already (because I'm not through! I must see it again and again again!). It has won more Tonys than any other show this season. Once you see it, you'll be doing "I am Aldolpho" impressions for years. If you are visiting my website, you must like my music, and if you like my music, then you are the discerning kind of music lover who is going to LOVE this show! And if you really want to make it a truly magical night from start to finish (and you have a lotta cash to throw around or you're in complete despair over the Bush Administration) have dinner at 6 PM upstairs at The View Restaurant -- it slowly spins around 47 floors above the street -- I'm talking about the sit-down View, not the upstairs buffet (that's OK, but not nearly as special). I can even tell you to ask to be served by Tracy -- she's a wonderful singer who works as a waitress at The View. You can make a reservation online by going to www.opentable.com and then on the restaurant list, scroll down til you see "The View Restaurant." You have a lovely dinner watching the sunset, the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, the skyline of New Jersey (it's pretty!), then go down to the third floor to see "The Drowsy Chaperone." There couldn't be a more perfect night anywhere (unless you go upstairs and have dinner afterwards). Imagine: dinner and a show in the same skyscraper. P.S. The cast album of "The Drowsy Chaperone" has just been released -- it's brilliantly done. Doesn't give away any of the surprises in the show, the CD booklet is sheer genius, and there's two hilarious bonus tracks.
